Android(2026年11月2日以降に公開した版):初回設定の「続ける」でオンになります。

Is my location shared?
On iPhone, location is used during a call, to show your group on the map; your route during the call is also saved on our server (see the Privacy Policy). From version 1.0.1, it is also used to find the ski resort near you (matched on your device only, not sent) and, only if you turn it on yourself, to send location samples for lift wait times (position, time and a number that changes daily; not linked to your name or account, but one day's samples share the number) while you are at or near a ski resort (an area several kilometres wide), including with the screen off. If you do not turn that on, no location is sent outside a call. From version 1.0.2 you can also, if you wish, tap the "Location access: Always" row in the Settings tab to set location to "Always": in-call sharing then continues with the screen off. The app never asks for "Always" unless you tap that row, and you can change it back at any time in the iPhone Settings app. If you do not allow location, calls still work and your location is not shared.
How do I stop sending location for lift wait times?
In iPhone version 1.0.1 and later: open the Settings tab in the app > tap the "Location for Wait Times & Announcements" row to open it > turn "Send" off. New installs are asked after first-run setup; if you update from 1.0, you are asked when you turn on voice announcements (and, up to 1.0.3, wait times) in Resorts, or you turn it on yourself in Settings. In 1.0.4 and later, if Send is off, switching on voice announcements shows one screen that covers both location sending and announcements. Android (versions released on or after November 2, 2026): sending is switched on by tapping "Continue" in first-run setup, after a screen that explains what is sent and that it continues with the screen off; while it runs, the notification "Using location for lift wait times" is shown; to stop it, open the Settings tab > "Location for Wait Times & Announcements" > turn "Send" off (and turn "Voice announcements" off too). Wait-time display and automatic lift announcements need it on; calls and the other features work without it. Switching "Send" off does not switch "Voice announcements" off by itself: while that switch is on, the plan check (a request carrying your user ID) continues, so turn "Voice announcements" off too to stop it (no announcements are spoken while Send is off). On the free plan, voice announcements also count toward the day's free 60 minutes (shared with calls); they switch off by themselves when the time ends.
I switched on voice announcements, but nothing is spoken
In iPhone version 1.0.4 and later and in Android versions released on or after November 2, 2026, announcements are spoken even when you are not in a call, but only while you are inside a ski resort area. Once you are inside, open the App once (after that it keeps going with the screen off). About 30 seconds after you enter, the card shows "Announcing now (no call, inside the resort area)". A voice is heard only when lift status changes, never right after you switch it on. Open the card to see the reason in one line (outside the area, precise location access missing, waiting for a call or broadcast to end, and so on). It comes out of the speaker, so people around you can hear it; switch it off where you do not want sound.
Why did voice announcements turn off by themselves?
On the free plan, voice announcements switch off when the day's free 60 minutes (shared with calls) end. You can use them again the next day (Japan time), or keep going from the plan screen in the App, by watching an ad for 15 more minutes (up to three times a day) or with a paid plan. While "Voice announcements" is on and the free time is running, open the "Voice announcements" card on the Resorts screen to see "Free time: N min left" (it is not shown while the switch is off, or on a paid plan). On a day when the free time has not started yet, switching on "Voice announcements" asks you to confirm. In iPhone versions 1.0.1 to 1.0.3, tapping "Turn on" starts that day's free 60 minutes (Android versions released on or before November 1, 2026 do not count voice announcements toward the free time). In iPhone version 1.0.4 and later and in the Android version, tapping "Turn on" records that day's confirmation, and the free 60 minutes start when announcements first play inside a ski resort area (if you do not enter an area that day, the confirmation stops counting the next day and the switch turns itself off). If your plan status changes (for example, a paid plan ends) and that day's free time has not started yet, the switch also turns itself off at the next check (up to about 15 minutes later on a paid plan), with no note.
How do I get 15 more free minutes by watching an ad? (iPhone 1.0.1 and later)
On the free plan, once the day's free 60 minutes (shared by calls and voice announcements) are used up (or, during a call, when they are about to run out), the plan screen shows a "Watch an ad for +15 min" button. Watching a video ad to the end adds 15 minutes to the day's free time, up to three times a day; the button shows how many are left today. Whether to watch an ad is your choice: calls, the camera and the map can be used within the free time without watching any ad. Ads are not shown to people on a paid plan (if the app cannot check your plan at that moment, it behaves as on the free plan). If the ad does not appear (for example "No ad is available right now." or "The ad could not be loaded."), check your connection, wait a little and try again; ads can also be unavailable for a while for reasons on the ad provider's side, and a paid plan lets you keep going meanwhile. If you watch an ad during a call, the ad starts without sound and the app does not change your call's audio settings. If you watched an ad to the end but the time was not extended, the plan screen says "Applying the extension is taking a while. Please wait a moment and check again." and shows a "Check Again" button: wait a little, then tap it; if it still is not extended, write to us at the address below. To report an inappropriate ad, tap the (i) icon on the ad (where one is shown), or use Settings > Contact / Send Feedback in the app. Where to find it: the "Watch ad" button in a call, or "See plans" on the Resorts screen's "Voice announcements" card > the "Free Plan" section of the plan screen > "Watch an ad for +15 min".
How do I open the staff features (MC Broadcast, Guide Mode)? (iPhone 1.0.2 and later)
These are for ski-resort MCs and the staff of guide companies; you do not need them for ordinary calls. "MC Broadcast" needs an MC passcode and "Guide Mode" needs the ID and password we issue to the company. An account cannot be created inside the app. They cannot be opened during a call. Open the Settings tab in the app > tap the "Staff features" row > choose "MC Broadcast" or "Guide Mode". Pressing and holding your display name on Home for about 2 seconds opens the same screen. An MC broadcast stops when the App is no longer in front (you go to the Home screen or lock the phone). While you are broadcasting, the screen does not lock by itself.
How do I talk to every room as a guide? (iPhone 1.0.2 and later)
After you log in to Guide Mode, the guide dashboard has a "Hold to talk to every room" button at the top. You can speak only while you hold it (up to 60 seconds). The first time, tap it and type the company's 4-digit broadcast password (it has to be typed each time the dashboard is opened). Choose who hears it: "Everyone" or "Owners only". It cannot be used while you are in a room (leave the room first), and it stops if you leave the app's foreground. Listeners hear it without any action if they are in a call in one of the company's rooms. If they cannot hear it, check that they are connected to the call, the volume and the audio output (for example earphones). If you see that the broadcast password is not correct, please ask the company's administrator.
How do I mute with the volume buttons? (iPhone 1.0.2 and later)
During a call, the iPhone's volume buttons can toggle your mute. It is off at first. Each press also changes the iPhone's own volume by one step. Open the Settings tab in the app > "Volume Button" > turn on "Volume Button Mute Toggle". You can turn it off at any time.
My recorded video has the TCD logo. Can I turn it off? (iPhone 1.0.5 and later; Android versions released on or after November 3, 2026)
In iPhone version 1.0.5 and later, and in Android versions released on or after November 3, 2026, videos recorded with the camera get a TCD logo watermark in the top-left corner (on by default). To turn it off, open the camera screen's settings (gear icon) and switch "TCD Logo Watermark" off. It cannot be changed during a recording, and the logo cannot be removed from videos already recorded. The logo sits in the top-left, inside the area that Instagram vertical videos (Reels and Stories) usually leave visible.
The call audio stopped when I watched a video in the Photos app (iPhone 1.0.5 and later)
While another app (for example a video played in the Photos app) uses the audio, iPhone stops the call audio. This is an iPhone rule that the App cannot avoid. In version 1.0.5 and later, if the call audio stops and does not come back, the App shows a notification ("Call audio paused") and speaks a message. Open TrailComms Direct and the call audio resumes (the App takes the audio back as soon as it is in the foreground). If it still does not come back the App tells you ("Audio did not come back"); please leave and rejoin the same room. If no notification appears, check in the iPhone Settings that notifications are allowed for TrailComms Direct.
What is Powder Map? (iPhone 1.0.3 and later; Android released in November 2026 or later)
A map that shows by colour where the snow of the last 12, 24 or 48 hours has collected around Niseko, Rusutsu and Kiroro. It is an estimate calculated from past weather, not a forecast. Colours compare places within each area, not one area with another. Rusutsu and Kiroro are in trial and use the Niseko tuning as it is. It is free, shows no ads, does not count toward your free call time, and needs no account and no location or other permission. It also opens during a call. Where to find it: Home screen > the "Powder Map" button below "Create a New Room" and "Join a Room" > choose the area (Niseko, Rusutsu or Kiroro) and the period (12, 24 or 48 h).
Before you go, always check the local avalanche information and follow the instructions of gates, ropes and patrol. This map does not show avalanche danger, and places where wind loads snow can also be the most dangerous for avalanches.
Why is the Powder Map empty, or why does it say it is out of date? (iPhone 1.0.3 and later; Android released in November 2026 or later)
No colours does not always mean something is broken. In these cases, no colours is the correct state:
- Almost no snow fell in the period you chose (12, 24 or 48 h). The screen says there was almost no snowfall and draws no colours. Before the snow season, or after several days without snow, this is the true state. It is judged for each area, so Niseko can have no colours while Kiroro has some.
- Colours are drawn only where the estimate is above (blue) or below (orange) the area's average. Places near the average get no colour, so "no colour" does not always mean "no snow".
- Powder Map never asks for location permission. If you chose a resort by hand in the App, that resort's map opens first. If not, and you have already allowed location use in the App, the nearest area opens first (your position is used only on your device and is not sent). Otherwise Niseko opens. Opened anywhere in the world, it shows the same Niseko, Rusutsu and Kiroro maps (without colours when no snow has fallen).
"Updated N h ago" under the map is the time since the map's calculation was last updated. After about 3.5 hours a yellow warning appears. After 12 hours the colours are hidden so that old colours are not shown as current, and the screen says so.
- If the screen says the area cannot be updated right now, the map of that area is not being updated at the moment. You can switch to another area. Please open it again a little later.
- If the screen says it cannot connect and shows a reload button, check your connection. If the first fetch fails, the app retries every 30 seconds by itself. If a fetch fails after one has worked, the app keeps showing the last content it received and says so. It also fetches again when you bring the app back to the front.
- Rusutsu and Kiroro are marked "Trial". They use the calculation tuned for Niseko as it is, and checking against real snow is less advanced than for Niseko.
If it still does not work, write to us at the address below (please include your phone model, the OS version, the time you opened it and a screenshot).
Are calls recorded?
The operator does not record or store call content. If you use the optional Camera feature during a call, the video is recorded on your own iPhone, including your microphone and, by default, the other members' voices (you can switch the other members' voices off in the Camera settings), and is saved to your Photos if you allow it; the app does not upload the recording. When recording starts and stops, the app signals the other members connected to the call to play an audio cue.
